Japanese Woodcut Printing Weekend Course for Beginners/Refresher

Gain an introduction to this ancient printmaking technique. On Day 1, Paul will lead you through the whole process, you will learn how to prepare paper for printing and be shown different ways of approaching the cutting of blocks. Emphasis will be on learning to use the technique for exploration rather than final results and you will be encouraged to focus on experimentation at the printing stage. Paul will give short group demonstrations of printing techniques and also work with individuals on a one to one basis. Day 2 is given over to the cutting of blocks and printing of individual work.
